Acorns Staff Team
Our real strength is that we have a friendly, homely atmosphere within the preschool. The staff have been working here for many years and have experience that cover all the age brackets up-to teenage and beyond. The staff feel that it is of utmost importance that children are well looked after and that their individual needs are all catered for and that it is an essential element that parents build a working relationship with all staff especially with their child’s Key Worker.
Lee – Acorns Manager
I have been involved with Acorns Preschool since Easter 2006, first as a parent then as Chair of the Committee for two and a half years and finally as a member of staff since March 2011. I was promoted to Manager in May 2013.
I hold a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Management, Children and Young People’s Workforce Diploma Level 3, Advanced Safeguarding and First Aid.
I feel very privileged to be working at the preschool; having been involved with a Day Nursery in Bristol for the past 10 years on a management level it is so rewarding to finally spend time with the children and help them to gain such valuable early learning opportunities through play.
Andrea – Acorns Deputy Manager
Hi! I have been working at Acorns since February 2010. When I joined I was working as Bank/Voluntary staff but as of March 2011 I was taken on as permanent staff and was promoted to Deputy Manager in May 2013. I had no formal childcare qualifications but had experience of working with children through being a parent to 3 boys all of which have attended Acorns Preschool.
Since joining I have obtained the NVQ level 2 in Childcare Learning and Development in November 2010. In May 2012 I completed my Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young Peoples Workforce. I am the settings SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator) as well as being First Aid trained.
I enjoy seeing the children develop a wide range of skills which will help them make the transition into school life whilst having lots of fun at Acorns Preschool. I belong to a supportive, caring and hard working team.
Lee and Andrea are supported by two preschool assistants – Helen (qualified to Level 3) and Natasha (qualified to Level 2).
Helen – Preschool Assistant
Hello! I am one of the Acorns Preschool Assistants and have been a member of staff since 2009. I first came to Acorns as a non-qualified mum! My child care experience came from having two children, now 20 and 24. I am now qualified to Level 3 and have attended courses for First Aid, Food Hygiene, Managing Children’s Behaviour and Level 2 Safeguarding. I have also been a childminder and I have worked in primary schools as a mid-day supervisor, and a mentor. I have worked in other preschools and nurseries.
At Acorns I am part of a caring, fun and hard working team. I am the Outside Co-ordinator for Acorns and am always on the lookout for new outdoor toys and activities. I enjoy music and dance with the children and have been known to “bust a few moves!”. I also enjoy cooking with the children.
Acorns is a caring and fun place to be. The children’s safety, well being and development is paramount in all that we do.
Natasha – Preschool Assistant

When I joined Acorns Preschool I was Level 2 qualified and had experience working in other pre schools and nurseries. I am currently working towards my Level 3 Children and Young Peoples Work Force qualification. Since being at Acorns I have attended courses for First Aid and Level 2 Safeguarding.
At Acorns Preschool I work alongside a caring fun, supportive, hard working team. I enjoy painting and making things with the children, getting messy is all part of the fun.
